<慶祝入圍, 重新開放閱讀.>


本週敝校SA2正式鳴槍開跑, 第一棒就是Oral Examination, 一般而言, 小一, 小二的oral test都是在自己的教室舉行, 學校會在教室前門外面, 放置一對桌椅, 以供師生面對面坐答. 而在教室後門外面, 也會放一張桌椅, 供下位測驗同學準備, 每個小朋友都有五分鐘的準備時間, 準備兩部份的考題內容.


Oral 第一部份, readind Passage, 這部份就是看文章讀出全文, 重點是, 段落要斷句清楚, 一個字一個字清楚唸出. 第二部份, Picture Discussion, 就是看圖說故事, 重點是, 1. 不僅止於描述圖畫內容, 切記表達一些自己的觀點, 例如:  we should help people  who ....., I think the people should stop those naughty acts.... 2. 所有的敘述要用Simple Present and Present Continuous Tenses 表達. 有些學校還有第三部份的conversation, 就是對答啦. 我們學校小一小二是沒有.


當老師和學生在教室外展開如火如荼的口試對話時, 我們PSG成員就稱職的扮演監考的角色, 主要工作, 無非是維護班上制序. 只是, 一小時半的時間內, 一下子要維護制序, 一下子要queue應試同學及其考試準備的時間, 還要忙著應付小朋友的問題, 還真是累人ㄋ.


通常, 老師會給他們一些Maths或 English test paper在等待的時間做, 所以, 小朋友一有問題, 就迫不及待的等候我過去解答. 而每個問題幾乎只有十秒鐘的反應時間, 所以, 反應太慢, 學生可能還會以為偶沒見識ㄋ. 小二數學問題其實也還好解, 算術題都還容易, 但遇到一些文謅謅的問題, 幾乎快招架不住. 最近數學上到Geometry, 所以, 要辨識各種不同的形狀, 請畫出3 straights, 3 curves的圖, 或者, 一個圓椎體有幾個flat face. 有些數學題也超靈活的, 還會問說, 有9l的水, 分裝入2l的container之內, 請問要用幾個container. 這問題並非給一個even number讓小朋友可以除盡, 反而是相當靈活的要你動腦解題. 跟小朋友解釋4.5, 四捨五入之類是行不通, 只要圖解示意.


總之, 一下子四五個小朋友舉手問答,  簡直想整我勒, 幾乎來不及詳細解說, 就直接幫他們解題啦. 遇到英文更是好笑, 小朋友寫作時, 最常問某個單字怎麼拼, 哇哩勒, 好里佳在以前還是有背過單字的, 有些小朋友問naughty, extremely, immediately, scratch, hospitalize, ...還有我的手機可以 double check spelling, 不然, 豈不誤人子弟了. 此外, Vocabulary的問題, 也是很多小朋友常問的題形. 基本上, vocabulary還不是太簡單, 有些還真用猜的, 有題目問說: 在某些國家slurp以下哪些食物是不禮貌的, pizza, bread, noddles...就直接猜應該是吃麵時發出的速速聲. 只好, 把自己猜的動作, 表演給小朋友看, 這樣小朋友就懂喽, 心裡怕怕的, 很怕教錯. 後來複查過後, 果然猜得還沒錯. Ya. Clever.  


另外ㄋ, 有些小朋友跟本太誇張, 拿一篇考comprehension的文章, 題目問說....which words in the passages shows.....天ㄚ, 三秒鐘要抓一個key wordㄋ, 基本上, 我是猜到應該是那個字, 但前後文沒時間看, 只能跟他說, 我猜是某某字, 但因我沒時間細看, 請他自己再想想看. 而有些小朋友, 簡直偷懶到極點ㄋ, 拿一篇cloze 來問我應該怎麼填勒, 哇, 再有耐性的我, 都不得不使出賤招, 就是裝白癡, I don't know. 請你先把上面的單字唸過之後, 再讀讀內文唸三次, 就知道答案了. 哈, 這是我最常要求我女兒填cloze的方法啦. 話說回來, 小二的英文, 數學就很不簡單了, 心裡不禁會問, 我還可以教我女兒到幾年級?!  


這年紀小男生, 你真得不知道他們再忙些什麼, 沒練習題可寫時, 叫他們看書, 竟然大聲說, 他沒帶書, ㄚ, 課本總有吧? 叫他拿課本也不要, 盡做一些無聊事, 例如: 拿橡皮擦擦桌子, 然後把削削裝入削鉛筆機, 哇里勒, 我就問他, 你來學校趕嘛的, 盡做一些無聊事. 唉, 可能是我沒兒子勒, 不太能想象這些小朋友搞這些怪, 有啥樂趣可言啦.


監考時, 我覺得最大的難題是唱名, 每個名字都好難叫, 叫英文也怪, 中文也怪. 印度名就不說了, 就是八拉八拉亂唸, 中文應該ok, 有小朋友姓史, shi, 我唸標準"史xx", 同學們還大笑說我唸錯,  還有, 有個中國學生說, 對, 歷史的史. 連史同學本人都跑來說, 他姓"施(音同)"~Shi. 哇哩勒. 我說這是歷史的史, 阿姨唸得沒錯. 阿姨可是有唸過華文...anyway, 他們一聽到"史"就以為是"死", 也很難跟他們解釋ㄕ, ㄙ的差別. 雞同鴨講啦.


遇到不乖的小朋友, 我都只是記一下名, 然後, 還偷偷跟他說, 再給你一個機會. 遇到有小朋友被老師罰站外面, 趁老師不在, 我就趕緊cover他一下, 叫他回來乖乖坐好寫功課.  我女兒班好可憐ㄋ, 被Auntie孟加拉監考, 她還列了一張naughty list, 結果, 班導一回來, 第一件事就是打這些小朋友. 可憐喔. 但有小朋友犯了不該的錯誤, 就是偷跑到門外, 跟準備考試的小朋友說話, 這可是考試的大忌, 即使說聲 Good luck, 也是不可以的, 切記ㄋ.


總之, 監考是很好玩的事, 可以加強跟學生們的互動, 也感覺得出來, 他們很喜歡我勒, 通常監考過後ㄋ, 在校園中遇見這些小朋友, 他們還是會相當熱情的過來叫~Teacher, Auntie, Mummy~沒關係啦, 隨你亂叫啦, 算你遇到好人啦.


 


Section A~ Reading Passages, Tips on tackling the oral examinaiton


1. You will be given five minutes to reas through a passage silently before you are tested. Read the passage at least twice.


2. Pronounce the words carefully and try to read words endingd such as 'ed', 's', 't' and 'th' clearly.


3. Pause slightly at the appropriate places, for example, at the end of a sentence or after comma.


4. For words that you have difficulty in pronouncing, try to pronounce them as best as you can.


5. Read the passage expressively to convey the information, ideas and feeling.


6. Some Oral Passages are based on short story, report, or speech.


* reading a story a) the use of direct speech may apply.


b) try to understand what the story is about and read with expression.


*readinf a report a) Read the passage like a news presenter, with a formal or official tone. You have to speak clearly, especially when reporting numbers.


7. Most importantly, read with confidence, making sure the examiner can hear you clearly. Read at an approiate pace. Articulate the words clearly and stress the correct syllables.


 Section B~ Picture Discussion, Tips on tackling the oral examinaiton


1. Study the picture silently to get a general ideas of the scene.


2. Tell the examiner what the picture is about and where it is set.


3. Describe the picture in a systematic way; begin with one area and then move on the nevt, for example,


a) you may choose to begin form the left of the picture then move on to the right.


b) from the centre of the picture and then around in clockwise direction.


c) you may also choose to describe the foreground (the front part) of the picture first and then the background of the picture.


4. Speak loudly, slowly, and clearly. Use the Simple Present and Present Continuous Tenses.


5. Give your openion and suggestion about the incidents, actions and people in the picture.


6. Take note of the facial expressions of the people in the picture. You can use the appropriate vocabulary to describe how the people look and their feelings.


7. You should describe the object or the activity. Do not point with your finger. You can make use of propositions and phrases such as "besides", "next to", "on left of", and expressions like "in the background" or "on the extreme left" to describe what you see in the picture. 


8. Pupils are expected to talk about the picture in a continuous manner.
